This class will focus on several basic forging fundamentals. Using the forge, anvil, and basic hand tools and techniques, students will forge a spatula, and a steak turner.
Join us for gourd crafting fun and make a container that is perfect for storing small objects! Students will lean how to make a marble effect using alcohol ink dyes and using paper rush and linen, go around their bowl to create a closed coil rim to finish.
Students will create and design earrings or pendants out of Precious Metal Clay, when after firing in a kiln, will be 99.9% Fine Silver.
Birding at Burritt with Audubon Society 2023 10:30 am - 4:00 pm Join us for Birding at Burritt as we chase away the winter blahs. Our fun-filled day of bird watching includes learning about falconry, Audubon Society-led hikes, and a special Bird Encounter nature program. This event is included in general admission and is free for Burritt members. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Carol Speegle will teach about Falconry 10:30am-10:55am Learn about the art of Falconry and have an up close meeting with her friend Knight a Gyr/ Peregrine hybrid falcon.
Students in the sourdough class will learn the bread making process from start to finish including making and feeding your sourdough starter, properly proofing and kneading dough, various loaf shaping techniques, and baking.
Beginners are welcome to learn how to make this early 3d stained glass Valentine’s heart. We will be cutting, copper foiling and soldering this pretty little heart. Assorted colors will be available.
This Saturday beginner wheel throwing workshop will cover the basics of shaping clay using an electric pottery wheel. Your instructor will guide you through the essential steps of creating a wheel thrown vessel.

Burritt on the Mountain in collaboration with Huntsville Traditional Music Association are happy to announce the return of the Coffeehouse Series bringing monthly Coffeehouse Concerts back to the Old Country, freeing us from weather concerns and allowing a longer season. Shane Adkins will bring his world class talent to our January coffeehouse stage on Tuesday, January 24. Shane is an outstanding performer, showcasing extraordinary guitar skills, a captivating baritone voice and memorable, original songs. Shane was recently inducted into the 2022 National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Burritt on the Mountain has cancelled our Groundhog Day celebration scheduled for this Sunday, January 29th. This year we will defer to Punxsutawney Phil for his weather prediction. We look forward to seeing you on the Mountain this Spring for all we have in store. On February 2, 1887, Groundhog Day was celebrated for the first time at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Groundhog Day is a day to take everything a little less seriously and break up the winter monotony.
